Artists Maarit Hedman and Anu Haapanen discuss art and equality as well as darkness and light. Both artists worked at a residency in the northern border town of Tornio organised in late 2022 by the Aine Art Museum and Culture for All Service. The subject of their talk at EMMA is their experiences as a seeing and a blind artist working as equals. How was art making affected by the collaboration as the dialogue between darkness and light was refined into art? The talk will also address the issues faced by disabled artists in Finland. What is the situation of disabled artists in the Finnish art scene regarding equality? The talk is facilitated by critic Sini Mononen, who has written about the role of art in society.

You can participate in the discussion free of charge if you register to the event. Please register on EMMAs website (this will take you to a Finnish e-form).
